โรคมะเร็งตับ Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) เป็นมะเร็งชนิดหนึ่งที่พบมาก ในประชากรไทย อีกทั้งยังเป็นสาเหตุของการเสียชีวิตลำดับต้นของโรคมะเร็งทั้งหมด ผู้ป่วยที่มีอาการของโรคในระยะกลางนั้นมีการรักษาโดยวิธี Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) ซึ่งเป็นวิธีรักษามาตรฐาน โดยมีการใช้ Iodized oil fluid injection (Lipiodol®) ร่วมในการรักษา ในปัจจุบัน Lipiodol® มีราคาที่สูงขึ้น ดังนั้นคณะอนุกรรมการพัฒนาบัญชียาหลักแห่งชาติจึงให้ทำการศึกษาความคุ้มค่าของการใช้ Lipiodol® เพื่อนำผลการศึกษามาใช้ประกอบการพิจารณาปรับปรุงรายการบัญชียาหลักแห่งชาติ
