About Project
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) will continue to significantly impact healthcare and public health around the world. Given the complexity of AMR and the multi-dimensional nature of its aetiology and impact, a multi-sectoral and inter-disciplinary approach is required to mitigate its impact. “One Health” is an approach to designing and implementing programmes, policies, legislation, and research in which multiple sectors communicate and work together to achieve better public health outcomes.
The aim of this project, conducted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and HITAP,is to assess the socioeconomic impact of AMR from a One Health perspective. This project is supported by the One Health Antimicrobial Resistance Research Programme (OHARP), Singapore and comprise the following: a reproducible scoping review of approaches to the estimation of the socioeconomic impact of AMR and adapt existing modelling framework for the assessment of the socioeconomic impact of AMR from the perspective of One Health and localize it to Singapore based on data availability and interests of stakeholders.
The model will be used to estimate the current and projected future socioeconomic impact of AMR in Singapore under different scenarios including the absence of AMR mitigating interventions. The project will end with a preliminary assessment of interventions—technologies and policies—that can mitigate the socioeconomic impact of AMR at the agency, inter-agency, and national level. The policy analysis will also recommend efficient ongoing data collection efforts by agencies and interventions that might warrant in-depth economic evaluation.
